Memorable Memorial

We had a great weekend consisting of 4 days.  We took the kids to Valley World of Fun.  It's a small amusement park with miniature golf, bumper boats, fun slide, free fall, bowling, laser tag, a small roller coaster, teacups, etc.  Anyways, by the days end the kids asked if we could live there forever (as if it were seriously an option).  Paige even thanked God on a couple of occasions for the "fun world place".  Lane's favorite was the arcade and fun slide.  Paige's favorite was the free fall and would even put her hands in the air (thanks to daddy's encouragement) while I held on to her one knee that I could reach just to make me feel better. She is definitely our more adventurous one (aside from water).  On Memorial Day we went canoeing on Cheat River with the kids.  Paige was not very excited in the canoe.  She would yell at anyone that would move in fear that we would tip over (I silently felt the same way but was too busy concentrating on getting past the little rapids or rocks).  We made it to the end of the 9 miles all in one piece and somewhat dry.  Blake got to do some fishing and even caught a fish (which Lane didn't think possible).  It was beautiful and we had a lot of fun.  My arms we so tired and Blake couldn't understand why until I reminded him that he fished for most of the 9 miles while I kept him out of the side of the river.  I'll post some pictures when I get my camera hooked up to the computer.

Kristy's tag.

So here is a tag for all those that don't know me very well and wish they could be me and for those that know me too well and are glad that they are not me.

What were you doing ten years ago?  I was serving an LDS mission in the Philippines.  Probably sleeping because it's a 13 hour difference (if I can remember right).

Five things on my to-do list:  Feed kids, play with kids, take kids to soccer, clean up after kids, put kids to bed...Ahhh, quiet.  Do nothing.

What snacks do I enjoy?  Has anyone else noticed that when you are trying to lose weight that anything sounds good?  Normally I'm all about chocolate and sweets but now I will add things salty, things sour, things savory and things edible.

What would I do if I were suddenly a billionaire?  I would tell no one.  I would also do more traveling and convince Blake that he doesn't need to work anymore.  We could spend all our time playing and finding ways to bless other people's lives.  I know Blake wants to do medical missions and I'd just go along to hold their hands.

Three bad habits:  1. Procrastination  2. Leaving piles of stuff to go through (Kristy leaves trails, I leave a trail of piles)  3. I can't think of a 3rd thing right now.  Not because I only have 2 bad habits, but because I'm thinking of the piles I should be going through that I have procrastinated doing.

Five places I have lived:  Illinois, Maryland, D.C., New Jersey, California, Wyoming, New York (twice), Utah, Philippines, Idaho, West Virginia.  I know that is more than 5.  I just wanted to see if I could remember them all.  Let me know if I missed one.

Five Jobs I have had:  1. McDonald's (3 times) 2. ICON 3. E.A. Miller (slaughter house secretary) 4. Mom  5. Student's Wife (seriously, that should count).

Five things people don't know about me:  1. I crack jokes when I'm nervous (not very funny ones either) 2. I hate having to get ready every day (doing my hair). I'd rather just wear a baseball hat and a good pair of jeans (with a shirt too, of course).  3. I've never been to prom. 4. I secretly enjoy things I'm not very good at (singing when no one is listening, decorating or maybe watching people decorate on tv, you get the idea).  5. I wish I had a wedding album and not just negatives of the important day.

There you have it.  Now aren't you glad that you're not me. :)  I'm going to tag Gretchen (if you're up to it).

Twilight & Bees!

Blake's had a great schedule this week but unfortunately he has spent it being sick.  He laid in bed and even passed up golfing with a friend.  I personally think it was so he could finish the "Twilight" series (which he did) and then was upset that Bella would even consider getting together with Jacob.  (I have to agree).
Paige had her last Explorer class.  It was about bees and she learned a lot more than I thought she did.  These answers are in Paige's own words.  #2 cracks me up.
1.  Only girl bees (workers) have stingers.
2.  Boy bees (drones) aren't very special.  They are good for nothing.
3.  When girl bees are done with the boy bees they rip their wings off and kill them.
4.  There are guard bees and they guard the hive.
5.  Honey is yummy.  (She got to dig her fingers into the honeycomb to get fresh honey.  I had to tell her to stop. Save some for the bees.)
She also enjoyed watching the bees in an observation cabinet.  They were making Queen cells because they just lost their Queen a week ago.
We've had a lot of rain so there hasn't been a lot of soccer or being outside.  Hopefully today turns a little better.  Hope your day is a little drier.
(Steph: why does my blog do the spacing like that and how can I fix it?)

"No wonder the house is a mess."

So I finally jumped on the band wagon and read the "Twilight" series.  I read all three books in two days.  When Blake finally realized how big the books were and that I'd finished all of them his response was "No wonder the house is a mess".  He really didn't care about the mess, he just had to remind me that he had no clean clothes to wear.  I assured him that the kids were feed, clothed, and bathed.  Now to take it one step further I think I am the only one out of my friends to say that my husband is now reading the "Twilight" series and is into the 2nd book already.  He came to dinner saying, "I can't believe they broke up."  I thought he was talking about Tony Romo and Jessica Simpson (who cares about them?!).  Blake seemed a little annoyed that I didn't understand that he was talking about Edward and Bella.  I'm secretly counting how many days it takes him to read them all.  Next bit of news.  Blake and I put an offer on a house that is a couple of blocks from our apartments here and the offer was accepted.  It a cute little ranch house with a great backyard that comes with a wood swing set and a great climbing tree. I'm wondering how long it will take Lane to figure out that if he climbs on the swing set and into the tree he can then get on the roof.  I'm expecting a broken arm or leg within the year.  We are planning on closing on July 18th. Hopefully things will go smoother this time around.   Flag football sign-ups are this Saturday and I can't wait to get Lane out on the field.  I'm tired of telling him no football in the house.  The apartment is just too small for him to tackle anyone/anything that moves.  Poor Paige.  She is usually on the receiving end of the tackle.  Well, there is the update for now.

Me, a Princess?

If I was a princess I'm glad it's Ariel. I always did like her hair best. And who wouldn't want to swim all day long, lay on the beach, and talk to fish.
You Are Ariel!
